Yard-O-Led Pens

In 1822, the first ever propelling pencil was invented and patented by a man called Sampson Mordan. Through into the next century his family-run business continued to develop the unique design of carrying twelve three inch leads inside the barrel. It is from this feature that the name Yard-O-Led evolved. In 1934 the Yard-O-Led Company was founded by a Mr Brenner and has continued the traditions of craftsmanship and excellence established over 170 years ago. Influenced by original designs of the 19th and 20th centuries, the range of Yard-O-Led writing instruments includes fountain pens, ballpens and roller ball pens in addition to the unique propelling pencil. Each Yard-O-Led pen or pencil (except Retro) is hand crafted from hallmarked sterling silver, individually numbered and comes complete with a lifetime guarantee. The Yard-O-Led company is now part of the Letts Filofax Group.
